2027, the year of analog
Okay, let’s get a few things out of the way right up top.
It’s now August, 2026 and my last blog post was 5 months ago, in March. Clearly 2026 was not the year of the blog. And regarding years, there are still several months left in this one, so why the hell am I talking about 2027? I guess it’s a public setting of intentions for the near-ish future. And „intention“ is the right word. It’s not yet a plan. The „year of analog“ will, in an ideal world, be a series of small projects, each one analog first - printed on paper, sent through the mail, tangible.
It’s an exciting intention, but even as I write this out, I have in the back of my mind a whole list of specific digital projects:
Rebuild my main website, not on Squarespace (will be self-hosted, probably built with AI)
Update my store - probably after rebuilding my website
Finish several half-written blog posts - probably after rebuilding my site
Continue working on a separate website that’s also collage-related
Retire/deprecate yet another website that’s no longer important to me
Figure out where my newsletter „belongs“ and what relationship does it have to my blog
Do a bunch of URL redirecting
Probably something else…
None of these projects are analog, but all of them should get done, and perhaps they are what I need to do so that I can start 2027 with a fresh, analog mindset. Get my digital house in order, then go make a mess with a bunch of paper, ink, and glue.
I started this post planning to talk about a couple projects that may end up being part of „my analog year“, and have wound up giving myself a completely digital todo list. So it goes.
