The carved stone sculpture, photographed in black-and-white has lost its original colors. The ink, nearly 100 years old has kept its intensity, even though both the writer and recipient are long gone. The curls of the lettering play off the stone swirls - imagined filagree and hair. Red. Not a pure color but betraying the brush strokes that laid it on the paper. The hand is everywhere in this collage.
